Marta works at biotechnology company leadXpro in Switzerland, specializing in structure-based drug discovery for membrane proteins. Besides developing an internal clinical pipeline, the company also provides contract research organization work for a growing number of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic partners. leadXpro’s research covers a broad range of membrane proteins, including GPCRs, ion channels, transporters, and enzymes. Membrane proteins are the most promising targets for drug discovery, yet also the most challenging. To unlock these targets, the company brings together specialized knowledge in protein science, pioneering technologies in structural biology, including cryo-EM, and expertise in ligand design and characterization.

Cryo-EM sample preparation has been a time-consuming and labor-intensive process with many variables that are challenging to optimize.
